Deonar is a eastern suburb of Chembur in Mumbai, India. Famous residents include Hindi movie legends Raj Kapoor and Ashok Kumar. You can find the Tata Insititute of Social Sciences (TISS), as well as the International Institute of Population Sciences here. India's largest abattoir is also located here. Deonar has most of the colonies provided by the government to their staff. One of them is Teachers colony (for Municipal school teachers). You can find Chembur and Govandi railway station nearby. Govandi is the nearest among the two stations. On the other hand one can also find Mankhurd railway station near the highway (the road that connects to Navi Mumbai). Sion-Trombay road (ST road) is the largest street through 'Deonar Pada' or Deonar village as the locals call it. This road heads east over the BARC flyover past the 'check naka' towards Vashi toll naka in Navi Mumbai. The other landmark here is the BSNL Telecom Factory on Mahalaxmi Mandir Marg. The traffic circle (roundabout) at Shivaji Chawk marks the boundary between Deonar and the rest of Chembur. It's important to note that Deonar & Chembur have different police stations, post offices, and PIN codes (400 088). CommentsNo comments have been added. |
