Water Eaton Lane, Gosford

Gosford, now part of Kidlington was once separated from Kidlington when the manor was given the Hospitallers in 1142. It remained with them until the dissolution. During the 16th century it was administered with Water Eaton. The two parishes became connected with each other in 1932 to form the parish of Gosford and Water Eaton.

In the 17th century, Mr. Richard Washington, gent (d. 1670). maintained a school here. The village now has a Church of England Secondary School.

In 1838 a penny post station was established in Gosford and a full post office by 1847 until 1853.^[1]
