I Am Spoonbender is an American multimedia group formed in San Francisco in early 1997 by Dustin Donaldson, with Brian Jackson. Halfway through the recording of their debut album Sender/Receiver, the band was joined by cub guitarist Robynn Iwata.[1]

Their breakthrough musical style has been compared to Brian Eno (Stopwatch Static), Can (Reality Dealer, Replaced By Toys), and This Heat, with occasional forays into post-rock (Parenthetical) and digital micromusic (Mr Knife Miss Fork).[2] Dustin Donaldson has noted that some of their musical influences include Morton Subotnick, Wire, This Heat and Devo.[3]
