This is a list of Honorary Citizens of the Free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg, Germany. The honorary citizen award (Ehrenbürgerrecht) is the highest decoration of Hamburg.

Since 1813, given by the Senate of Hamburg, the honor was only for non Hamburg citizens until 1948 to um sie zu einem der unseren zu machen (make them as one of us). Since 1848 the state parliament (Hamburger Bürgerschaft) is asked to confirm the honor. It can also be revoked.
