Scopus is a bibliographic database covering abstracts and citations and web-based research tool provided by Elsevier in cooperation with a number of university research libraries. It indexes 15,800 peer-reviewed journals in the scientific, technical, medical and social sciences fields. Searches in Scopus incorporate searches of scientific web pages through Scirus, another Elsevier product as well as patent databases. Scopus also offers author profiles which cover affiliations, number of publications and their bibliographic data, references, details on the number of citation each published document received and alerting features that allow anyone who signs up for them to track changes to the profile. By using Scopus Author Preview anyone is able to search for an author with affiliation name as a limiter, verify the author’s identification and set-up an automatic RSS feed or Email alerts to the author’s homepage. Content integrationTopCited provides a quick overview of subject-specific top 20 cited articles in the past 3, 4 or 5 years of publication covered by Scopus database. TopCited data has been extracted with the use of an Application Programming Interface (API) which is part of the Scopus Integration Program. There are many ways how data can currently be leveraged on the internet and a lot academic institutes, especially libraries are applying these technologies to increase their services.
