Warriors Orochi 2[4] (無双OROCHI魔王再臨? Musou Orochi Maō Sairin, lit. Unmatched Orochi: Rebirth of the Demon Lord) is a 2008 video game developed by Koei and Omega Force for the Sony PlayStation 2. It is the sequel to Warriors Orochi, a crossover video game of the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series, and the most recent entry in the Warriors franchise. The game was released on September 23 in North America and September 19 in Europe. A version for the Xbox 360 was released on September 4, 2008 in Japan, and alongside the PS2 releases in North America and Europe. A PSP port release is scheduled for November 2008[5].
Plot and CharactersFollowing the defeat of Orochi at the end of the first game, the new land consisting of the warriors from the Three Kingdoms Era of China and the Sengoku Jidai of Japan found peace. It was, however, not destined to last. Former officers under the Orochi army broke away and formed their own armies, while others even not affiliated with Orochi began to create armies of their own as well. All the while, an evil plot is in motion behind the scenes, to revive the greatest evil the world has ever known: Orochi himself. The first Warriors Orochi boasts a roster of 79 playable characters spanning both the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series. This game introduces a total of 13 new characters, including characters new to the Warriors franchise. Along with all the characters from the first game returning, 92 characters encompass the roster of Warriors Orochi 2. Several existing characters from the Warriors games that did not appear in Warriors Orochi make their debut in the sequel. For the first time since Dynasty Warriors 3, Fu Xi and Nu Wa[1] are playable, complete with updated character models. Additionally, because this game is released after Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends, Yoshimoto Imagawa's updated character model, Kojiro Sasaki, Katsuie Shibata, Toshiie Maeda , Motochika Chosokabe and Gracia[1] are included. In addition, there are other characters, new to the Warriors franchise, that appear as well:
There are also two characters, Dodomeki and Gyuki, that are playable only in Survival and VS modes only. They are modeled after two new classes of Orochi generic generals. Dodomeki is a SPD character that shares a similar moveset to Kotaro Fuma, while Gyuki is a PWR character that possess a unique moveset. Shu StoryWhen Da Ji has been spotted hiding out in Shi Ting, Liu Bei decides to set out himself with a small force to pay back his followers for their actions in the previous war against Orochi. Watching from the sidelines while this is going on is the mysterious strategist, Taigong Wang.
Wei StoryCao Cao, having regained leadership of Wei following the previous war against Orochi, has set out to become a major power in the new land. He takes an opportunity to get some control when a strange army led by a monkey has been sighted in the Si Province. Alongside Cao Cao is the mysterious and enigmatic Nu Wa.
Wu StoryAmidst all of the fighting and chaos, Sun Jian has firmly decided not to join in, lest they bring more chaos. Instead, defenses are strengthened and scouts are sent out to monitor the situation for the time being. Soon though, scouts find that Lu Bu, once a member of the Orochi army, is in combat at Ru Xu Kou against a new and strange warrior, Yoshitsune Minamoto.
Samurai StoryWith Orochi dead, former Orochi army member Dong Zhuo has left his former allegiances to do whatever he pleases. While terrorizing Lou Sang Village, he is stopped by Sakon Shima, who has decided to end the fighting once and for all.
Orochi's StoryUnlike the other four stories in Warriors Orochi 2, Orochi's own story and campaign are a prequel to the first game, explaining the events that lead up to the story of the first Warriors Orochi.
By the start of Warriors Orochi 2, Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu and Masamune Date have left the Orochi army following the Serpent King's death. Kiyomori Taira, Sun Wukong and Himiko have later joined the army. There are two new classes of Orochi generic officers: A demonic-like boar class, named after types of minerals, and a demon ninja class, named after a variety of flora & fauna and species of spider. New Gameplay MechanicsThe core gameplay of Warriors Orochi 2 follows the same premise as its predecessor; three warriors are selected and can be switched at will. However, this sequel introduces additional new concepts:

It should also be noted that this is the only time in the game where the second player can choose three separate characters from the first player Tag Team and EliminationThis mode pits the two players against each other. Unlike the previous versus modes where they fight using the standard gameplay mechanics, this mode is reminiscent of a traditional fighting game, possibly paying tribute to the original Dynasty Warriors.
