An individual building, structure, or landmark of any type is notable if it meets WP:N guidelines, which for the most part, means being covered by multiple, independent reliable sources. This includes those under public and private ownership. There are, however, some places for which it can be assumed are given such coverage, and therefore are notable.
Categories of buildingsOffice buildingsOffice buildings, including government and private, are only notable if they are the subject of multiple, independent reliable sources. MedicalHospitals providing general, emergency, or psychiatric care are notable. They are usually considered important to the infrastructure of the region. Other types of hospitals, long-term care facilities branded as "hospitals," nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and medical centers are only considered notable if they are the subject of multiple, independent reliable sources. Places of educationColleges, universities, and most other elementary and secondary schools are inherently notable. See WP:IHN. Local vocational schools are generally not notable. Places of worshipA place of worship is notable only if it has received coverage from multiple, independent reliable sources from outside its local area. News coverage from within the region does not meet this criteria. Age of a place of worship does not make it automatically notable. RestaurantsRestaurant chains are notable is they meet WP:CORP guidelines. Restaurants with a single location are rarely notable, and only if they are the subject of multiple, independent reliable sources. Hotels, motels, and other lodging facilitiesLodging chains are notable if they meet WP:CORP guidelines. Hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and other similar businesses with a single location are generally not notable. Exceptions are those that are the subject of multiple, independent reliable sources. An example is Bellagio. Tourist attractionsTourist attractions, including museums, are notable if they are the subject of multiple, independent reliable sources, or if they are mentioned in multiple travel guides. Landmark or historical designationsAny building designated by a governmental agency as a historical building or any building or structure given a landmark designation is considered notable.
